Final Fantasy IX’s theme “Melodies of Life” performed by Susan Calloway, backed by the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra. Calloway, who performed in lieu of the song’s original vocalist Emiko Shiratori, also sang Final Fantasy XIV’s main theme, “Answers.”
Calloway was picked by Nobuo Uematsu himself to record “Answers” after hearing and being impressed by her live performances of “Melodies of Life” as well as “Suteki da ne?” (FFX), “Distant Worlds” (FFXI), and “Kiss Me Good-Bye” (FFXII).
